100% of all donations to these programs goes directly to support the designated programs.   All donations to Americans for Native Americans are tax deductible.

Americans for Native Americans (ANA) is presently working with Native Americans on Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi Reservations in the Southwest.

Food for Kids Back Pack Program
Food for Kids sends home a back pack filled with child-friendly food each weekend.  These children often have nothing to eat from their school lunch on Friday until they return to school for breakfast on Monday morning.  Your donation of $5,000 will allow 25 to 30 children from one school to be enrolled in the Back Pack Program for one year.  We currently have sponsors for six schools — there are more than 25 schools waiting for this program.

Native Energy Project
Mission Statement:
The mission of the ANA Native Energy Project is to assist in the development of solar and wind power resources to provide Native Americans from the Four Corners region with access to clean, efficient and cost-effective power. We recognize the vital role that small and medium sized renewable energy enterprises must play in the sustainable delivery of modern energy services to thousands of remote households, businesses and tribal entities currently located beyond the grid.  ANA’s efforts will therefore focus on identifying, inspiring, training and supporting renewable energy entrepreneurs, and in developing Pilot Demonstration Projects throughout the region.

How you can help: Our goals of bringing clean, cost-effective power to those Native Americans living beyond the grid connection are ambitious. We need your financial support, as well as your business experience. The ANA Native Energy Committee invites entrepreneurs from around the country to share their skills, experiences and resources with Native American counterparts who are interested in developing solar and wind businesses on the reservations. Please click DONATION FORM to join us in supporting these Native American business pioneers. If you are an entrepreneur with something to share, please contact Native Energy Committee Chair Linda Helm Krapf, lindahkrapf@patmedia.net.

Nursing Support Program
Scholarships and donations are needed to support Native American Nursing students attending the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Gallup — the only nursing program in a very wide geographic area. Native Americans interested in becoming nurses face many barriers, including disparities in educational opportunities, and a lack of tools and equipment.

Scholarships for individual Native American students will be developed through your donations of $500, $1,000, $2,000, and $5,000.  Students will be selected for scholarships based on established criteria.  ANA will get feed-back and follow-up on students selected and their progress in the nursing program.

The Student Nurse-Mentor Program is being developed with the School of Nursing at Catholic University in Washington, DC.  Your donation to this program will support UNM Native American nursing students through a student exchange and visit to DC, exposing them to advanced practice nursing roles, advanced practice nursing scholarship and degree opportunities, and develop students into nurse leaders who will support the Native American community.

For more details on the Nursing Support Program, contact Cheryl Mee: 800.523.1649 ext. 3154 or c.mee@elsvier.com.

Thanksgiving Basket Program
The Wingate Elementary School is a boarding school on the Navajo Reservation where children live year-round because there are no schools closer than two or three hours from their homes.  The Thanksgiving Basket Program allows the children to go home for the holiday along with a Thanksgiving dinner to share with their family.  Your donation of $50 purchases one Thanksgiving Basket.

Wool Blanket Program
Contributions purchase brand-new Woolrich blankets for Native Americans.   Your donation of $25 will purchase one blanket, an essential for keeping warm in the freezing Southwest winters in homes where there is little or no heat source.
